60 minutes: $80

The Signature Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork with a personalized approach to your myofascial needs. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as effleurage, rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation, to release knots, taut bands and adhesions. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. We will find the right balance of relaxation and body maintenance for your overall well-being.

Key Benefits of Massage Therapy

  • Physical Health: Reduces muscle spasms, cramping, and tension. It improves flexibility, range of motion, and joint stiffness which aids in relief from arthritis.
  • Mental Well-being: Promotes relaxation, reduces stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Circulation & Healing: Increases blood flow, which helps in tissue regeneration and increased injury recovery, in some cases, reduces scar tissue.
  • Pain Management: Helps with chronic conditions such as headaches (migraines)Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Sciatic pain, Plantar Fasciitis, and TMJ syndrome.
  • Immune System: Stimulates lymph flow, which acts as the body's natural defense system.

Main Contraindications (When to Avoid Massage)

  • Blood Clots/Circulation Issues: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a major risk, as massage can dislodge clots.
  • Skin Infections/Wounds: Avoid areas with infections, open, or healing wounds.
  • Acute Illness: Do not get a massage if you have a fever, as it can worsen symptoms.
  • Recent Injury/Surgery: Massage can increase inflammation or harm healing tissues.
  • Severe Osteoporosis: Deep pressure can cause fractures in fragile bones.
  • Cancer: Massage is generally safe but requires approval from an oncologist, especially to avoid areas with tumors or recent treatment sites.
  • Pregnancy: It is recommended to avoid massage in the first trimester, and to always use a trained prenatal therapist thereafter.
  • Intoxication: Alcohol or drugs can dull sensations, making it impossible to tell if the pressure is causing damage.

Risks and Warning

Potential Side Effects (Rare)

Date Night Couple Massage

90 minutes: $150

Change up your date night with this Couples Massage for you and your partner. Bring your swim wear and favorite drink to share during a guided massage session.

CBD Cloud Massage

60 minutes: $100

This Swedish Cannabis massage uses CBD infused oils, lotions, or balms to enhance traditional massage therapy by reducing inflammation, relieving muscle pain, and promoting deep relaxation. These topicals are non-psychoactive, meaning they do not cause a "high" and are used to treat chronic pain, arthritis, and stress. I use a high quality CBD product, measuring the amount used to ensure consistent application and maximum benefits. Patients say the aches and pains disappear and they feel "lighter" overall. No feeling of "high" or "stoned" has been reported.

Key Benefits and Details

  • Pain & Inflammation Relief: CBD topicals penetrate the skin to target localized areas of pain, helping to unlock tight or spastic muscles and can aid in faster recovery from injuries and soreness.
  • Deepened Relaxation: The calming properties of cannabis can lead to reduced anxiety and improved sleep quality.
  • Types of Topicals: Therapists may use CBD-rich oils, lotions, powders (often hemp-derived) infused products.
  • Enhanced Skin Health: Many topical products provide deep moisturizing benefits.
  • Improved Circulation: Massage stimulates circulation, which helps distribute the cannabinoids.
  • Application: These products can be used with various techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and cupping massages.

Risks and Warning

  • Safety: Cannabis topicals are generally non-psychoactive and, according to experts, do not enter the bloodstream in high enough concentrations to cause a failed drug test.
  • Skin Sensitivity: While rare, some ingredients in specialized oils might cause skin irritation or rashes.
  • Allergies: Individuals with known sensitivities to cannabis or hemp products should avoid these treatments.
  • Pregnancy/Nursing: Due to limited research, it is generally recommended to avoid these treatments while pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Medical Conditions: Those with severe liver or kidney disease should consult a doctor, as CBD is metabolized by these organs.
  • Medication Interactions: CBD may interact with blood thinners or other medications.
  • Recent Use: If a client is a heavy user of cannabis, they may have a blunted pain response, making deep tissue or hot stone techniques potentially unsafe.

Cannabis massage, especially using CBD-dominant topicals, is non-psychoactive and typically safe, but always inform the therapist of allergies or health concerns beforehand. If you are unsure if you have a contraindication to hemp due to medication or condition please receive prior approval from your primary physician.

Range of Motion Massage and Stretches

60 minutes: $80

As you probably already know, stretching your muscles not only reduces your chance of injury, but also strengthens your tendons and improves your circulation. You will receive a full body massage with an emphasis on stretching to improve mobility and encourage joint health. The stretching techniques used are a mixture of styles collected from massage, PT and yoga to create the right combination for your needs.

Risks and Warning

Contraindications for massage and stretching include acute injuries (fractures, sprains), severe osteoporosis or rheumatoid arthritis, blood clots (DVT), infections/fever, skin conditions (rashes, open wounds), and, if on blood thinners, areas of inflammation. Local contraindications include varicose veins, bruises, or specific tumor sites. Neurological/Sensory Issues that have decreased sensation (e.g., in some diabetics).

If you are not sure if you currently have any contraindications, please receive prior approval from your physician before scheduling an appointment.

Deep Tissue for your Issues Massage

60 minutes: $100

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Risks and Warning

Deep tissue massage is contraindicated for individuals pregnant, or with blood clotting disorders (DVT), severe osteoporosis, recent surgeries or fractures, contagious skin conditions, or active infections/fevers. It should be avoided over areas of acute injury, inflammation, or specialized conditions like active cancer, as it can worsen injuries or dislodge clots. Individuals on blood thinners, with cancer (requires oncologist approval), or autoimmune conditions should avoid deep tissue without medical clearance.

Hot Stones Melt Away Massage

60 minutes: $100

A hot stone massage is a therapeutic treatment using smooth, evenly heated basalt stones to massage and may be placed on specific parts of the body to relax muscles, improve circulation, and ease pain, usually lasting 60-90 minutes. Therapists may place warm stones on specific body areas (face, chest, back, hands, feet, or between toes) and use them to massage, allowing deeper tissue pressure without discomfort.

Key Details of a Hot Stone Massage

  • Techniques: Techniques include, but are not limited to, using the stones to apply, heat, and glide over muscles, providing a deeper level of relaxation compared to traditional massage. This may include long strokes, circular movements, vibration, tapping or kneading.
  • Temperature & Safety: Basalt stones are evenly heated to between 130*F to 145*F in a specialized heater. A layer of oil is applied, and therapists ensure the stones are not too hot before placing on the patient to avoid burns.

Benefits of the Hot Stones Massage: This treatment is known to promote sleep, reduce stress, anxiety, and tension, while also increasing joint flexibility and relieving chronic muscle pain.

  • A 2006 literature review found massage may be an alternative to sleeping pills in adults with insomnia. The research showed that back massage helped promote relaxation and sleep. A 2001 study showed that infants with sleep problems who were given a 15-minute massage by their parents went to sleep faster. They were also more alert, active, and positive upon awakening. Massage is thought to help you enjoy more restorative sleep, although it’s not completely understood why.
  • Hot stone massage may relieve painful conditions such as fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes widespread, chronic pain. According to a 2002 study, people with fibromyalgia who received a 30-minute massage slept longer, had fewer trigger points, and had decreased levels of substance P (a substance involved in transmitting pain signals) than people with the condition who received relaxation therapy. More research is needed, however, before massage becomes a standard fibromyalgia treatment.
  • A 2013 studyTrusted Source found that people with rheumatoid arthritis may benefit from a moderate-pressure massage, such as hot stone massage. Participants in the study experienced less pain, greater grip strength, and a greater range of motion after one month of massage therapy.
  • A large, three-year study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management examined how massage affected pain, fatigue, stress and anxiety, nausea, and depression in 1,290 people with cancer. The study showed massage, especially Swedish massage, improved cancer symptoms, even in those with substantial symptoms. Researchers believe the comforting use of human touch played a role.
  • Massage may give your immune system a boost. According to a 2010 studyTrusted Source, a single session of Swedish massage therapy had a positive and acute impact on immunity. Blood samples taken before and after the massage showed a decrease in arginine-vasopressin, a hormone that helps regulate blood pressure and water retention.

Risks and Warnings

When performed by a trained therapist, a hot stone massage is generally safe. There are some circumstances where it should be avoided. Consult your doctor before getting a massage if you have:

  • a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners
  • burns on your skin
  • open wounds
  • a history of blood clots
  • had surgery in the last 6 weeks
  • a fracture or severe osteoporosis
  • low platelet count (thrombocytopenia)
  • diabetes

60 minutes: $100

I am trained to provide gentle relaxation Pregnancy Massage for ladies during this important time in your life. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation. Every expectant mother needs a little pampering and massage will help you prepare for the big day to introduce your bundle of joy to the world.

Risks and Warning

For more complex or high risk pregnancy, please see a licensed massage therapist specifically trained in Pregnancy Massage to better suit your needs. Pregnancy massage is generally safe but is contraindicated for high-risk conditions like preeclampsia, DVT (blood clots), placenta previa, severe unexplained swelling, or recent vaginal bleeding. Always consult a doctor if experiencing preterm labor, high blood pressure, or severe headaches, as these may require avoiding massage or getting written clearance. For patients with varicose veins we will avoid direct, deep pressure on affected areas to prevent damaging veins or dislodging clots. During the first trimester it is not strictly forbidden to receive a massage, many therapists suggest waiting until after the 13th week due to higher miscarriage rates, or focusing only on light relaxation. Other high-risk factors are age under 17 or over 35, or conditions like gestational diabetes require doctor approval.

Get Doctor Clearance: Essential if you have/had any high-risk factors.

Add-On: Cupping

15 minutes: $15

Cupping massage is a form of alternative medicine that uses suction cups on the skin to increase blood flow, release myofascial tension, and reduce muscle pain. It is used for relaxation and deep tissue work, utilizing silicone or plastic cups that may be stationary or moved across the body to stimulate healing. This service can be added onto your regular massage therapy appointment.

Key Aspects of Cupping Therapy

  • Common Benefits: Used for back/neck pain, muscle soreness, arthritis, inflammation, and to improve overall circulation.
  • Technique: Cups are applied to create a vacuum, pulling skin and underlying tissues upward, which can reduce pain and improve circulation.
  • Types:
    • Dry Cupping: Cups are placed on the skin, creating suction only.
    • Massage/Moving Cupping: Lotion is applied and the suctioned cups are glided across the skin to release muscle tension.
    • Materials Used:
      • Silicone: Pliable, easy for self-care, and commonly used for gliding.
      • Plastic: Often used with a vacuum gun for precise, stronger suction.

Common Benefits: Used for back/neck pain, muscle soreness, arthritis, inflammation, and to improve overall circulation.

  • Pain Relief: Cupping may help alleviate chronic and acute pain conditions, including:
    • Back, neck, shoulder, and knee pain
    • Headaches and migraines
    • Arthritis and fibromyalgia
    • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Muscle Relaxation & Recovery: The negative pressure helps to relax tight muscles, relieve muscle stiffness, and increase range of motion, which is why it is popular among athletes for recovery.
  • Improved Circulation and Lymphatic Drainage: The suction increases localized blood flow and stimulates the lymphatic system, which is believed to aid the body's natural healing processes and remove metabolic waste.
  • Fascial Release: Cupping can lift and stretch the fascia (connective tissue), helping to break up adhesions and knots, which can improve mobility.
  • Reduction of Inflammation: By increasing blood flow and modulating the immune system, cupping may help reduce inflammation in targeted areas

Risks and Warning

Bruising: The suction can cause temporary, painless bruising (marks) that last for 5–10 days.

Safety: It is generally safe but not recommended for individuals with skin infections, bleeding disorders, or those taking high doses of blood thinners. Cupping should not be performed on certain areas or individuals with specific health conditions to avoid adverse effects.

Absolute Contraindications (Avoid entirely):

  • Bleeding disorders (such as hemophilia) or use of anticoagulant medications (blood thinners), due to a high risk of excessive bruising or bleeding.
  • Active cancer at the treatment site or a history of organ failure.
  • Presence of implanted electronic devices, such as pacemakers.
  • Conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or a recent stroke, where increased blood flow could dislodge a clot.
  • Directly over open wounds, skin infections, burns, or active skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, shingles).
  • Over major arteries, veins, nerves, body orifices, eyes, or lymph nodes.

Relative Contraindications (Use caution or modify treatment):

  • Pregnancy: Cupping should be avoided over the abdomen and lower back, and medical clearance from an obstetric provider is recommended for other areas.
  • Fragile skin: Elderly individuals or those with connective tissue disorders may have thin, fragile skin susceptible to tearing or severe bruising, requiring a modified, gentler approach or avoidance.
  • Severe chronic diseases: Individuals with uncontrolled diabetes or unstable cardiovascular disease should consult a physician before treatment.
  • Recent surgery: Avoid direct application over surgical sites until the incision is fully healed to prevent tissue disruption.

*Always consult with a healthcare practitioner to determine if cupping therapy is safe and appropriate for your specific health condition.

Add-On: Reflexology for Hands and Feet

15 minutes: $15

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

Reflexology for your hands and feet can be added onto your regularly scheduled massage appointment. Full body reflexology is not available at this time.

Add-On: Devil's Club Salve

15 minutes: $15

Devil's club salve is a traditional herbal remedy, from our Indigenous Alaska Yupik family recipe, used topically for its reputed anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and skin-healing properties. It has been used by Alaska Native Tribes for generations with great benefits, now we share it with others.

Ingredients

Our Devils Club Salve is infused with Chaga, Caribou Leaf, White Willow Bark, Coconut oil, Beeswax, Grape Seed oil, Apricot Kernel oil, Comfrey oil, Black Caster oil, Glycerine, Lanolin, Petrolatum, Propylene Glycol, Cinnamon oil, Clove oil and Devil's Claw.

Pain and Inflammation Relief

  • Arthritis and joint pain: It is widely used to ease joint discomfort and reduce the inflammation associated with arthritis.
  • Muscle aches: The salve is massaged onto sore or aching muscles to provide natural relief.
  • Bruises: Some users report that it helps with the discomfort and cuts down the healing time of bruises.

Skin Conditions and Wound Care

  • Chronic skin conditions: It may alleviate symptoms of chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
  • Minor cuts, scrapes, and burns: The salve is used to promote healing of surface wounds, minor cuts, burns, and abrasions, with its potential antimicrobial properties helping to protect against infection.
  • Insect bites and stings: It has been traditionally used to provide relief from insect bites and jellyfish stings.
  • Dry skin: The balm base (often made with ingredients like olive oil and beeswax) helps to moisturize and soothe dry or cracked skin.

Risks and Warning

Note: While many people find relief using devil's club salve, it is important to remember that these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA, and the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Scientific studies on the plant's benefits have largely been limited to test tubes and animal models, with a lack of clinical studies involving human subjects. It is recommended to consult a healthcare provider before use, especially if pregnant, nursing, or on medication.

Add-On: Stink Weed Oil

8 minutes: $8

Stinkweed salve (made from Artemisia species, also known as wormwood or wild sage) also includes tea tree, chamomile and peppermint which has a pleasant aroma. Traditionally used by Indigenous Alaska Natives for various topical applications, including relieving pain, treating skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, and drawing out infection.

Specific benefits associated with stinkweed salve include:

  • Pain Relief: Rubbed into the skin and sore muscles to alleviate pain from injuries and conditions such as arthritis.
  • Wound and Skin Care: Applied to sores or cuts to help draw out infection and speed up the healing process. It is also used to soothe skin rashes, minor burns, and address conditions like athlete's foot.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Helps to reduce inflammation in the skin and muscles.
  • Moisturizing: The salve base (often made with oils and beeswax) can act as an intense moisturizer for dry, cracked hands.
  • Repels Insects: Rubbing the leaves or salve onto the skin is traditionally used to repel mosquitoes and gnats.

It is important to note that while traditional remedies have a long history of use, they are not a substitute for professional medical care. The active compounds can be potent, and the plant has poisonous characteristics if taken in large quantities.

Risks and Warning
While rare, potential side effects include intense burning or cold sensations, redness, rash, blistering, or skin irritation. Please communicate with your massage therapist if you have any allergies or concerns about using Biofreeze.

Biofreeze utilizes menthol (typically 3%–10.5%) as its primary active ingredient to create a "cold therapy" cooling sensation, which distracts the brain from minor aches in muscles and joints. Common inactive ingredients in the gel and cream formulas include aloe, arnica, camphor, and Ilex paraguariensis leaf extract.
